Coat of Arms and Flag

Coat of Arms

The presented coat of arms of the Ostrów Mazowiecka County refers to the history and tradition of the region. It is quadruple. In the upper red field there is a white (silver) eagle referring to the historical coat of arms of Mazovia, in the upper green field there is a gold shrub referring to the coat of arms of the county capital, i.e. the city of Ostrów Mazowiecka, in the lower green field there are 11 golden stars, symbolizing 11 local government units that make up the county, while in the lower white field there is a green winged dragon referring to the historical coat of arms of the Czersk-Warsaw Duchy, on whose former territories the county lands are now located on. The upper red field and the white lower field of the coat of arms are modeled on the seal of Bolesław IV - the Duke of Masovia, who granted city rights to Ostrów and Nór in 1434. A four-field coat of arms with an eagle and a dragon was visible on the banners of the Duke of Masovia during the Battle of Grunwald.
